Unter der Obhut seines Vaters Mufasa wächst der Löwenjunge Simba unbeschwert heran und soll eines Tages dessen Platz als König einnehmen. Aber bis dahin ist es ein langer Weg, der Simbas ganzen Mut erfordert.
